Lunch from AEON Supermarket (Queensbay Mall)

In case you haven’t heard it from anyone/anywhere else, fellow Malaysians, Selamat (belated) Hari Merdeka and Selamat Hari Raya Haji.

What am I doing over this “long” weekend, you ask? Why… work, of course! I’m running some environmental tests (which will be very technical if I elaborate) and unfortunately, the schedule is as such, so…

Anyway, I’m not updating my blog just to tell you I’m working. No…

I made a quick dash to the newly renovated AEON supermarket in Queensbay Mall to get some grocery only to find that the new front end of the supermarket looks more impressive than before. It looks (if only looks) a bit more like… I don’t know… Japanese, I guess? ๐Ÿ™„

So I decided that lunch would come from here. And this is me blogging about my lunch. This is all today, I’m blogging before digging in, so…

Lunch: As you can see, there’s 3 items here.
Item #1: Egg and Tuna Sandwich (RM 3.50)

Not so sure if egg and tuna sandwich is a Japanese thing. If I am perfectly honest, the sandwich that I crave and miss (and cannot get) the most is the katsu sandwich from Meidi Ya Bakery in KL some many many… many many many years ago. I don’t think this bakery still exist though ๐Ÿ™ .

Item #2: Salad Bowl (RM 6.90)

There’s a salad counter where you can get a plastic bowl, then mix and match whatever it is that tickles your fancy, and it will cost the same, RM 6.90 per bowl. So I got a bowl and got me’self a bit of couscous salad, a bit of Japanese potato salad (whatever the “Japanese” here means) and a bit of apple salad.

Now, I guess you must be wondering “where the f**k is the apple and couscous?”. Well, they’re at the bottom, all covered up. Reason being, when I was done and happy with my bowl, it was only slightly more than half full and the auntie staff standing next to me looked at my bowl and went “Aiyo!! Ambik kah je lah! Jit leh pumpkin pun ho jiak eh, broccoli pun ho jiak eh! Lai lai lai! (Aiyo!! Take more lah! Pumpkin also delicious eh, broccoli also delicious eh! Come come come!)“.

Then she took my bowl and proceeded to fill the bowl up to the brim without waiting for my consent. Oh, well…

Item #3: Menchi Katsu (RM 2.50 per piece)

Well, the only reason I got menchi katsu (minced meat cutlet) is because I have been watching this anime seriesย and the name of this food item triggered me…

Hopefully the ones I got could live up to such a lofty expectation ๐Ÿ™„ …

Anyway, time to eat… And then time to go back to continue working…

  1. not my type of lunch coz they are cold food….except that the minced meat cutlet might be a lil’ warm…Anyway, happy working to u….Yes, I m working today like any other usual work day, with my bosses and colleagues in the office as well.

  2. Eh, I used to love the sandwiches at Meidi Ya! I loved their tuna and egg sandwich. The bread is so soft. That aunty is right, since it will cost you RM6.90 per bowl, you should maximize and fill up the bowl kaw kaw ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. It actually looks like a decent lunch with quite a bit to eat and not that bad pricing. Don’t think the sandwich is Japanese. You can probably make something similar at home ๐Ÿ™„ It looks like 3 snacks make one lunch ๐Ÿ˜€

  4. Happy working on long holidays to you! I have been to the renovated Aeon supermarket in Qby and it looks like the renovated Aeon supermarket in Midvalley. Hahaha I can’t help laughing at how you were forced to take pumpkin and broccoli. Good value salad since your salad bowl is filled up to the brim. Remember to take a break from work and relax by watching more anime at home.

    • Meidi Ya is still around although they are less outlets now. My friend’s fil works there. I wanted to put this in the comment but forgot so putting it in now.

  5. Selamat Hari Raya Haji and Happy Holidays from me at the food court of MyTown @ Ikea.
You are so hardworking in everything you do except blogging. This egg and tuna is not Japanese thing. In fact most of their food including Sushi rolls are borrowed and modified ideas.
