1P100W #96 – Hokkaido

I cannot “discover” any new animes. I really can’t. Every time I did that, it would be a rapid fall down a never ending abyss. I am now reading the novel version of Sword Art Online while neglecting other more important stuff. Like this blog, for example…

Luckily I have a picture that I can use for a filler post today. This picture:

These are Hokkaido Cheese Tarts that seem to be the rage in KL these days.Β My friend bought these, and I had a piece…

It wasn’t as heavy as I was led to believe. It was good, but I’ve had better cheese tarts, unfortunately…

  1. I don’t know about the Hokkaido cheese tarts, but in Osaka the cheesecakes (not the dense version I know, but the lighter fluffier Japanese kind) saw lines down the street as they were coming out of the oven. We tried a couple and thought they were okay, but much preferred a denser, cheesier sweet.

    • Well I don’t even know if these are real Hokkaido tarts. For all we know, maybe only the brand is named Hokkaido but in fact the tart has nothing to do with Hokkaido at all. πŸ™„

  2. I have not tried any because I am scared if they have a strong cheese taste. If there is vanilla in the filling (which some will say defeat the purpose and will kill the cheese taste) then I am OK.

    • Well, there is no hard rules on how to eat cheese, but yeah I doubt anyone would do a vanilla + cheese combo. Maybe you should try to bake that. πŸ˜›

  3. Ah, so you weren’t impressed by these cheese tarts. Yes, they seem to be the rage in KL and they’ve opened up quite a few outlets (10 I think) in a short span of time. So, if I don’t like strong taste of cheese, I may like this one? πŸ˜‰

    • You will probably like this better than some others. This one has a custard-y filling kind of like egg tarts, some other cheese tarts have a more compact cheese filling (stronger cheese taste).

    • Some cheese tarts are packed with cheese, some are lighter and creamy (like this one). I think if you prefer egg tarts and don’t really like cheese, but want to try cheese tart, this is the right one for you.

  4. This is from “Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart” brand? From Queensbay Mall? I did not try this because I didn’t go to places where this is sold. Even so I will just buy one to try because I think they are here just to get on the bandwagon and not because they put any very ingredients in the cheese tarts.

    • Hokkaido, but not from Queensbay Mall. This was from Avenue K. I went there to meet some friends when I went home the other weekend. πŸ˜›

    • I don’t even know the price hehehe. My friend bought it and I got a piece for free. Since free… ok lah… πŸ˜›
