Healthy Dinners (Sort Of)

Monday:

Instant oats with black sesame powder and diced up strawberries. Nothing fanciful, and the whole thing took 3 minutes to prepare.

  • Boil water.
  • While waiting for water to boil, wash and dice up some strawberries.
  • Pour hot water over a handful of instant oats.
  • Mix strawberries with oatmeal.

Tuesday:

Spirals pasta with dory fish fillet, cherry tomatoes, turmeric and leafy vegetable. This is more elaborate and takes more prep time.

  • Boil pasta in salted water for 8 minutes.
  • While pasta is cooking, cut fish fillet into pieces, halve someΒ cherry tomatoes, wash and tear vegetable into pieces.
  • Once pasta is cooked, drain water away and set aside.
  • Heat some oil, saute some garlic granules and the cherry tomatoes.
  • Add fish fillet pieces and fry until lightly golden brown.
  • Add vegetable and turmeric and stir fry for a bit.
  • Add pasta, turn off the heat, squeeze some lemon juice in, and stir until well mixed.

The black sesame powder and turmeric, I found them in my luggage the next day after I discovered the pasta sauce.

Wednesday’s menu should be the same as Monday’s, and Thursday’s menu should be the same as Tuesday’s menu. Friday… I guess we’ll see…

I guess I’m doing this for my mom’s viewing pleasures more than anything else…

  1. Very healthy dinners. Oats never really make me full. After a couple of hours I will feel hungry again 😐 I would have thought you would make a rice dinner given your new rice cooker and the rice you bought recently.

    • That’s why I have them for dinner now. Once I start to feel the tiny hint of hunger, I go to bed. It is a way to force me to sleep earlier. πŸ˜›

      • I for one cannot sleep even if I feel the tiniest bit of hunger. If so, I will wake up feeling really hungry and empty to the stomach – and that causes stomach acids to build up and destroy my stomach lining. So, I’d rather go to bed after having a few snacks at night πŸ˜€

        • I understand what you mean. I am like that too. But I am trying to train my body to ignore and adapt to that hollow emptiness in the middle of the night.

          I guess you are alright. From what I see in your pictures, you are so skinny! You should eat more! πŸ˜€

          • The hollow emptiness in the stomach distracts me from sleeping πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ I know I should eat more. This afternoon for lunch I only had a ham and cheese toasted sandwich πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

            • I understand, we are humans after all. Sometimes knowing and actually practicing it is two different kettle of fish. πŸ˜€ .. Well, at least you are healthy and have enough to eat. You can take your time to teach yourself to eat more. πŸ˜€

  2. There was a time when I ate oats for dinner. No more, I can’t do it anymore πŸ˜€ I would prefer your pasta for dinner. I see lots of veggies in there. Your mum would definitely approve!

    • She did like my Facebook sharing, so I suppose so. But she might have liked the oats instead of pasta for all I know. πŸ˜›

  3. You eat more healthy meals than any of us…but the question is…is it working? ;D By the way, how would you use the black sesame powder in terms of cooking? I didn’t even know they sell that.

    • I am my own worst enemy. I think it works, when I go on a healthy diet roll, my tummy will get smaller. But then once in a while, I indulge in an eating binge (like buffet or oink fest) then I go back to square one πŸ™„ …

      Black sesame powder… not for cooking. It is one type of beverage powder, like soy milk powder or milk powder. You can get them in organic shops.

  4. Eh, I thought kumpul from Mon-Fri only show pictures geh.. Makes my sum yok-yok timm.. I prefer Tuesday’s food, pasta ma.. Your cereal with black sesame also nice, coz of the strawberries, but I prefer my black sesame drink on its own.. I have a big packet (with 20 sachets inside) in my office drawer, nice..

  5. wah indeed very healthy!! yes, your mom is going to like it, haha!! anyway your Monday dinner can never be mine, I must eat something savory for dinner else I feel not complete.. xD

  6. If you cook like this all the time, you can open a healthy eating restaurant and i will be your regular there. I love eating these kind of food. My MIL gave me a pack of tumeric powder and asked us to mix it with hot water to drink. No way, it tastes awful like that – better to use it for cooking like you did.

    • If I cook like this for a restaurant, I would probably charge more than RM 20 per dish to cover for the cost and profit margin, so I doubt you will be a regular LOL! πŸ˜€

      My mom actually wanted me to mix the turmeric powder with water as beverage too, but it will be impossible for me to stomach it >.< ..
