Emotional Breakdown

I was sending a friend home after dinner last night, and all the radio channels were doing DJ talk fests rather than playing songs. So I switched to my USB drive for some music. Turned out I did not organize the songs well, and it became a messy mix of different type of songs.

A grand total of 5 songs played before we reached the friend’s home. Before he got off, he commented: “Your song arrangement is crazy. Listening to them almost gave me an emotional breakdown!

I did not understand what he meant, so I looped back to 5 songs before and played them again. And then I think I got it. These were the songs in question:

First up was a happy and kawaii Japanese song…

And then the next song brings you from happiness to heartbreak, rather abruptly…

I really love it when Jolin sings these slow tempo, heartbreaking songs. I prefer these to her dance tunes to be honest…

And then as if that switching from happiness to sadness is not bad enough, the third song quickly introduces you to an angry and psycho fan rapping.

I think he must be pretty stressed up by then, when suddenly it was a happy dance tune again…

Only for it to end badly again. This heartbreaking song was the last song he heard before he got off from my car, escaping from my fucked up audio player…

I guess what I am trying to do here is… since it is weekend, if you are reading blogs, it means you’ve got a sad and boring life, and maybe your brains and emotions need some work. So I’m sharing the same 5 songs to see if it can make you go through an emotional roller-coaster like my friend did.

I’m nice right? Enjoy your weekend, guys… πŸ˜‰

  1. I’m not too clued up on the rest of the songs, but Eminem’s Stan is enough on it’s own to send someone into an emotional meltdown! I can’t listen to most of his stuff anymore, it’s too depressing.

    • I’m kind of different from you. These angry and depressing songs were my best friends on my lowest heartbroken point in life years ago. I guess I needed to feel all the terrible things in concentrated dose to purge them from my mind and body. Lucky for me, I am not a suicidal type of person, or else it might have ended badly for me.

    • Nah, I feel nothing much listening to these songs in such a random sequence. Or maybe I am already inherently a yo-yo kind of guy, so such fluctuations is normal to me hahaha! πŸ˜€

    • I love this song, it is my favorite Jolin song. I think it is better for her to sing this type of emo songs. Don’t like her dance songs to be honest hahaha!

  2. Eh, I don’t really think the song arrangement is that crazy. That is variety, isn’t it πŸ˜€ When I’m sitting as a passenger in someone’s car, I like to pay attention to the music or radio station that’s on and work out the driver’s taste in music. Also sometimes I worry that if I talk to much I’ll distract the person driving.

Yeah, it was the weekend and I was reading blogs. Don’t have much of a life here πŸ˜€

    • I can do shoot photo and drive very well, no problem, but I’m one of those who would not do well with talk and drive. I mean, it’s not like I hate it when the passenger talks to me, I don’t, I just… I think I like it more if I can drive under the influence of songs.

      No that doesn’t sound right. Whatever… πŸ˜€

      • I don’t drive very much. But when I do, I don’t like listening to people talking to me because when I’m talking to people, I like to visualise what they are saying – and that essentially takes my eyes off the road so to speak. And I worry that if I talk to the driver, that will happen to them.

        • Well, that’s normal, when we talk our concentration on the road will be reduced, although for me, normally it is not that dangerous. On normal road conditions, it should be fine (for most people), but if it is raining or snowing, then I would most definitely not appreciate people talking to me when I am trying to concentrate on driving.

  3. Weekend is here yeah! But I got to work on Sunday πŸ™ . But at least I got to rest the whole day on Saturday so still ok lah, hee hee.

When I am inside a car, I prefer to listen to the radio stations than talk, it is so enjoying and relaxing. Sometimes when I listen to those very β€œnoisy” music or songs, I will get very bad mood and I will just turn them off, cannot stand those kind of music.

  4. Hahahaha, now we know who are the ones having what you defined as a sad and boring life. I listened to all 5 songs and did not feel a thing. I guess that is because I just woke up after a heavy lunch.

Usually when I sit in other’s cars I don’t pay that much attention to the radio but just talk to the driver. I am surprised that your friend really listened to the songs that you played on the radio. He must be having some emotional issues to feel that way. Only when the underlying self is like that, the songs will bring that out. Like me, I just woke up and felt nothing after listening to the songs because my sense are still dull from sleep. So your friend must be feeling stressed to have the songs bring that out. Maybe you need to talk to him more.

    • Well, I think it is because I don’t talk much in the car when I am driving. So those who know me well/those who are equally introvert or nerdy won’t talk much too… so we ended up listening to the songs more than we talk.
